POSITION: Human Resources Generalist and Recruiter

REPORTS TO:  AVP/Sr. Director, Employee Success 

WORK SCHEDULE: Standard business hours, Monday through Friday, with a willingness to monitor email and
other systems during nonbusiness hours in cases of critical matters. Additional hours may
be occasionally required to meet time-sensitive deliverables and deadlines.

WORK LOCATION: Greater Sioux Falls Area; Hybrid (WFH 20%)

Overall Function: 

Responsible for running the daily functions of the HR department including: recruitment, hiring, and interviewing, working with payroll, benefits, and leave while enforcing company policies and practices. The ideal candidate will possess an outgoing, efficient, and self-motivated personality with a heightened attention to details and experience in employment law.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Advanced skills coordinating multiple and complex schedules in Outlook.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to completing multiple projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to participate effectively as a team player.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems (experience with ADP and BambooHR preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail and making sure any materials are of high quality and well-formatted.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Outlook, and Excel and comfort with learning other software applications,
    in many cases through online tutorials or other self-learning means.
  • Highest level of professionalism, integrity, and appreciation for maintaining confidentiality and discretion.

HR Generalist Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law. Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and staff surveys and assessments.
  • Performs other HR Generalist duties as assigned.


Recruiter Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Develop and update job descriptions and job specifications with hiring managers.
  • Create recruitment advertising materials and post jobs to appropriate job boards.
  • Source and recruit candidates using databases, social media, referrals, etc.
  • Screen applicant’s by assessing relevant knowledge, skills, soft skills, experience, and aptitudes.
  • Solid ability to conduct different types of interviews with hands on experience with various selection processes (phone screening, online or in-person interviewing, reference checks, etc.).
  • Comprehensive understanding of staffing salary ranges to engage in negotiation tactics.
  • Help to facilitate orientation and onboard new employees to become fully integrated.
  • Provide analytical and well documented recruiting reports and monitor and apply HR recruiting best practices.
  • Act as a point of contact and build influential candidate relationships during the selection process.
  • Orchestrate and attend job fairs and hiring events.
  • Performs other Recruiter duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Associates required, Bachelor’s in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred; combined education, training, and certification considered.
  • At least one year in HR required; 2-3 years’ experience as a Recruiter or HR Generalist preferred.
  • HR certification(s) desired and highly considered:
    • HR Certification Preferred: SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP; PHR or aPHR; GPHR; or SPHR
